Incursion Details
Childcare & Pre-school Scooter Safety Incursion
Wheels4Life tailors each incursion in consultation with the class teacher and integrates current subject matters and events into the incursion.
Our incursions have the following components:
- An introductory 15 minute presentation on pedestrian and scooter safety basics with plenty of child interaction
- Two to three rotation activities in groups. Rotation activities are tailored to the age of the class and are selected from the following:
- Jigsaw about the brain and why it is important to wear a helmet
- Traffic Sounds Bingo!
- Traffic safety scenario with scooters, props & dress-ups
- The students gather as a whole group for the final 10 to 15 minutes of the session time to share about what they have been learning and doing.
Primary School Scooter/Traffic Safety Incursion
This incursion is specifically designed for older age groups
Our incursions have the following components:
- An introductory 15 minute presentation on traffic safety on and around wheels with plenty of child interaction
- Four to six rotation activities in groups. Rotation activities are tailored to the age of the class and are selected from the following:
- Jigsaw about the brain and why it is important to wear a helmet
- Traffic safety scenario with scooters, props & dress-ups
- Making a bicycle out of craft materials
- Learning how to repair a puncture
- ... and many more
- The students gather as a whole group for the final 10 to 15 minutes of the session time to share about what they have been learning and doing.
Le Tour de France Incursion
Best delivered during Terms Two or Three
Alison has taught both primary and secondary-level French and can design this incursion to each individual class' level and strengths.
Our incursions have the following components:
- An introductory 15 minute presentation on bike safety basics with plenty of child interaction
- Four to six rotation activities in groups. Rotation activities are tailored to the age of the class and are selected from the following:
- Le puzzle de cerveau: Jigsaw about the brain and why it is important to wear a helmet
- An exercise where students learn about three Paris landmarks to visit on a bicycle tour, and then write directions in French on how to travel between each landmark
- Decorating a bike helmet biscuit
- Finding out about the geography of France by learning about the route of the latest Tour de France.
- Making a vélo d’artisanat (craft bicycle) out of craft materials
- Learning how to repair a puncture
- ... and many more
